1948 Rule Proposal No. 4: The Michelob Cold

Intro: Apologies to anyone who finds this proposal in poor taste, but this is the BVL.

We sent our players to war. Three never came back.

Currently, two players on the Boston Red Sox are quarantined.

1. After the draft, the 500 players of the BVL are sorted alphabetically.

The first player (possibly Fernando Abad?) is given a NY Pick 3 number of 001; final player (Ben Zobrist?), 500.

2. Cold season begins two days after the Owners Meeting and will last until the final out of the 1948 World Series.

3. Players will miss the following number of games whenever his Pick 3 number is called:

a. First occurrence, 3 games. REVISE to 1 game
b. Second occurrence, 5 games. REVISE to 3 games
c. Third occurrence, 8 games. REVISE to 4 games
d. Fourth occurrence, 15 games. REVISE to 7 games

Note: Since Pick 3 is a twice-daily draw in New York, only the evening draw counts.

Note: A player currently out with a cold is immune from further colds.

Note: If a player is participating in a game when his Pick 3 is announced, the player will finish the game.

Note: Rainouts reduce days out with a cold.

Note: Dr. Emrich of Kingman Hospital will track the Michelob cold season.
